निवातकवचवधः — Arjuna’s Neutralization of the Nivātakavacas

दर्शयामास मे शीघ्र॑ं मातलि: शक्रसारथि: । तत: शक्रस्थ भवनमपश्यममरावतीम्,अमित तेजस्वी गन्धर्वों और अप्सराओंका प्रभाव भी मुझे प्रत्यक्ष दिखायी दिया। फिर इन्द्रसारथि मातलिने मुझे शीघ्र ही देवताओंके नन्दन आदि वन और उपवन दिखाये। तत्पश्चात् मैंने अमरावतीपुरी तथा इन्द्रभवनका दर्शन किया। वह पुरी इच्छानुसार फल देनेवाले दिव्य वृक्षों तथा रत्नोंसे सुशोभित थी। वहाँ सूर्यका ताप नहीं होता, सर्दी या गर्मीका कष्ट नहीं रहता और न किसी-को थकावट ही होती है
arjuna uvāca | darśayāmāsa me śīghraṁ mātaliḥ śakrasārathiḥ | tataḥ śakrastha bhavanam apaśyam amarāvatīm |
Arjuna said: “Mātali, the charioteer of Śakra (Indra), quickly showed me (many marvels). Thereafter I beheld Amarāvatī and the palace of Śakra. I directly witnessed the splendor of the Gandharvas and Apsarases; then Mātali swiftly showed me the gods’ pleasure-groves such as Nandana and other parks. After that I saw the city of Amarāvatī and Indra’s own abode—adorned with wish-fulfilling divine trees and radiant jewels. There the sun’s heat does not oppress, neither cold nor excessive warmth causes distress, and no one experiences fatigue.”
