Arjuna’s Arrival and Reunion on the Sacred Mountain

Vaiśampāyana said: Then Bhīma, with barbed arrows of even greater and more terrible speed, cut down the weapons and assaults of those roaring foes—some stationed on the ground and others moving through the sky. The scene underscores Bhīma’s steadfast valor in battle: when confronted by deceptive, airborne and earthbound adversaries, he meets their violence with disciplined force and unflinching resolve.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadfast courage and competence in the face of intimidating, noisy, and strategically positioned enemies. Ethically, it reflects the kṣatriya ideal of meeting aggression with controlled strength and skill rather than panic or retreat.

Bhīma responds to roaring opponents—some airborne, some on the ground—by using swift, powerful bhalla-arrows to cut down their attacks and press the fight decisively.
