पपात रुधिरादिग्ध॑ संदष्टदशनच्छदम् । त॑ निहत्य महेष्वासो युधिष्ठिरमुपागमत् । स्तूयमानो द्विजाग्रयैस्तु मरुद्धिरिव वासव:,दाँतोंसे दबे हुए ओठवाला वह मस्तक खूनसे लथपथ होकर गिर पड़ा था। इस प्रकार जटासुरको मारकर महान धनुर्धर भीमसेन युधिष्ठिरके पास आये। उस समय श्रेष्ठ द्विज उनकी भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा कर रहे थे, मानो मरुद्गण देवराज इन्द्रके गुण गा रहे हों
papāta rudhirādigdhaḥ saṃdaṣṭa-daśana-cchadam | taṃ nihatya maheṣvāso yudhiṣṭhiram upāgamat | stūyamāno dvijāgryais tu marudbhir iva vāsavaḥ ||
His head, smeared with blood and with lips clenched by gritted teeth, fell to the ground. Having thus slain Jaṭāsura, the great archer Bhīmasena approached Yudhiṣṭhira. At that moment the foremost twice-born sages praised him profusely, as if the Maruts were singing the virtues of Vāsava (Indra).
