Hanūmān’s Embrace, Counsel, and Promise to Amplify Bhīma’s Battle-Roar

Gandhamādana Continuation

evaṁ tuṣṭo bhaviṣyāmi śraddhāsyāmi ca te vacaḥ | evam uktaḥ sa tejasvī prahasya harir abravīt ||

“Thus shall I be satisfied, and I shall also place faith in your words.” When he had spoken so, the radiant Hari (Hanumān), smiling, replied. The passage frames Bhīma’s request as not mere curiosity but a test that will confirm trust: seeing the extraordinary form once assumed for crossing the ocean would bring him inner assurance and strengthen his confidence in Hanumān’s counsel.

Educational Q&A

Trust (śraddhā) is strengthened when guidance is tested through meaningful confirmation rather than blind acceptance; Bhīma seeks assurance so that his confidence in Hanumān’s words becomes firm and ethically grounded.

Bhīma declares that seeing Hanumān’s extraordinary form (the one used to cross the ocean) will satisfy him and make him trust Hanumān’s statements; in response, Hanumān—called ‘Hari’—smiles and begins to reply.
