Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path
लाडूलास्फोटशब्दाच्च चलित: स महागिरि: । विघूर्णमानशिखर: समन्तात् पर्यशीर्यत,पूँछके फटकारनेकी आवाजसे वह महान् पर्वत हिल उठा। उसके शिखर झूमते-से जान पड़े और वह सब ओरसे टूट-फ़ूटकर बिखरने लगा। वह शब्द मतवाले हाथीके चिग्धाड़ोेकी आवाजको भी दबाकर विचित्र पर्वत-शिखरोंपर चारों ओर फैल गया
lāḍūlāsphoṭaśabdāc ca calitaḥ sa mahāgiriḥ | vighūrṇamānaśikharaḥ samantāt paryaśīryata ||
Vaiśampāyana said: At the crack-like sound of the tail’s lash, that great mountain shook. Its peaks reeled, and it began to splinter and crumble on every side, as the resounding report spread across the strange mountain-tops, overpowering even the trumpeting of intoxicated elephants.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the epic theme that immense, uncontrolled force—whether of beings or nature—can destabilize even what seems immovable, inviting reflection on restraint and the consequences of raw power.
A mighty tail-lash produces a sharp, cracking sound; the impact and reverberation are so intense that a great mountain trembles, its peaks sway, and it begins to break apart on all sides.
