Vaiśampāyana said: Refreshed by the cool, touch-like breeze of Gandhamādana—like a father’s soothing touch—Bhīmasena felt his fatigue being carried away by his own father, the Wind-god. As that pure, flower-fragrant mountain air fanned him, his body thrilled with joy, and he moved on through the forest with renewed vigor.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage highlights how divine support and the purity of nature can restore strength and joy: when one is aligned with righteous purpose, even hardship in the forest is met with sustaining grace—here symbolized by the fatherly, cooling wind that removes fatigue.
As Bhīma travels in the Gandhamādana region, the fragrant, sanctifying mountain breeze—identified with his father Vāyu—cools him, dispels his exhaustion, and fills him with exhilaration, shown by his hairs standing on end.
