Lomaśa said: “That Blessed Lord, the sustainer and benefactor of the worlds, appears in the very form of the Boar. As He lifts up the surface of the earth, He blazes forth like the fire that consumes all at the end of time.” The passage evokes divine intervention for the protection of creation: when the world is threatened, the Lord assumes a fitting form to restore balance and uphold cosmic order.
लोमश उवाच
When cosmic order and the welfare of beings are endangered, the Lord—described as lokabhāvana, the world’s sustainer—acts decisively to restore balance. The Varāha image teaches protective responsibility and the assurance that dharma is upheld through timely, appropriate action.
Lomaśa describes a vision of the Lord in the Varāha form lifting up the earth. The Lord’s radiance is compared to the apocalyptic fire of Time (kālānala), emphasizing overwhelming power used not for destruction here, but for rescue and restoration.
