Lomaśa said: “O son of Pāṇḍu, you have now beheld all the mountains; you have also surveyed the rivers along with their cities and forests. You have visited the splendid sacred fords, and with your own hands you have even touched their waters.” In context, the sage acknowledges the Pāṇḍavas’ disciplined pilgrimage—an outward journey meant to cultivate inner purification, restraint, and reverence for sacred places.

Educational Q&A

Pilgrimage (tīrtha-yātrā) is presented as a disciplined practice: seeing sacred places and respectfully engaging with their waters symbolizes purification, humility, and renewed commitment to dharma.

Sage Lomaśa addresses the Pāṇḍavas, noting that they have completed extensive travel—seeing mountains, rivers, cities, forests, and holy tīrthas—and have ritually touched the sacred waters, marking progress in their pilgrimage journey.
