Sukanyā’s Encounter with the Aśvins and Cyavana’s Rejuvenation (लोमश–सुकन्या–च्यवनोपाख्यानम्)
उवाच वाक्यं यत् ताभ्यामुक्तं भगुसुतं प्रति । तच्छुत्वा च्यवनो भार्यामुवाच क्रियतामिति,राजन! उन दोनोंकी यह बात सुनकर सुकन्या च्यवन मुनिके पास गयी और अश्विनीकुमारोंने जो कुछ कहा था, वह सब उन्हें कह सुनाया। यह सुनकर च्यवनने अपनी पत्नीसे कहा--प्रिये! देववैद्योंने जैसा कहा है, वैसा करो”
uvāca vākyaṃ yat tābhyām uktaṃ bhṛgusutaṃ prati | tac chrutvā cyavano bhāryām uvāca kriyatām iti, rājan |
Lomaśa said: “O king, having heard the message that the two (Aśvin twins) had conveyed concerning Bhṛgu’s descendant (the sage Cyavana), Cyavana spoke to his wife: ‘Beloved, let it be done as the divine physicians have advised.’” The verse underscores a moment of prudent consent and trust within marriage, where action is guided by competent counsel and undertaken with mutual regard rather than coercion.
