ममैव त्वं तवैवाहं ये मदीयास्तवैव ते । यस्त्वां द्वेष्टि स मां द्वेष्टि यस्त्वामनु स मामनु,'पार्थ! तुम मेरे ही हो, मैं तुम्हारा ही हूँ। जो मेरे हैं, वे तुम्हारे ही हैं। जो तुमसे द्वेष रखता है, वह मुझसे भी रखता है। जो तुम्हारे अनुकूल है, वह मेरे भी अनुकूल है
mamaiva tvaṁ tavaivāhaṁ ye madīyās tavaiva te | yas tvāṁ dveṣṭi sa māṁ dveṣṭi yas tvām anu sa mām anu ||
‘You are truly mine, and I am truly yours. Those who belong to me belong to you as well. Whoever bears hatred toward you bears hatred toward me; whoever stands with you stands with me.’ In this declaration of solidarity, the speaker binds personal loyalty to moral alliance: friendship is made inseparable from protection, and enmity toward one becomes enmity toward both—establishing a shared ethical and political front.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches inseparable solidarity: true alliance means shared belonging and shared consequences—friends protect one another, and hostility toward one is treated as hostility toward both, reinforcing ethical commitment and mutual responsibility.
A speaker addresses Pārtha (Arjuna) to affirm a firm bond of alliance: ‘you are mine and I am yours,’ extending that bond to their followers and defining enemies and supporters as common to both sides.
