Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how even an ascetic can be overtaken by krodha (anger) when attachment and concern for family arise; it implicitly warns that vigilance over one’s emotions is part of dharma, especially for those pursuing restraint.

Vibhaṇḍaka returns to his hermitage with gathered roots and fruits, searches for his son, fails to find him, and becomes intensely angry—setting up the next events of the Ṛṣyaśṛṅga episode.
