गङ्गाधारणम् (Gaṅgādhāraṇa) — Śiva Bears the Descent of Gaṅgā
कैलासं पर्वतं गत्वा तोषयामास शंकरम् | तपस्तीव्रमुपागम्य कालयोगेन केनचित्,राजन! यह सुनकर महाराज भगीरथ कैलासपर्वतपर गये और वहाँ उन्होंने तीव्र तपस्या करके कुछ समयके बाद भगवान् शंकरको प्रसन्न किया
kailāsaṃ parvataṃ gatvā toṣayāmāsa śaṅkaram | tapas tīvram upāgamya kālayogena kenacit, rājan |
Lomasha said: “O king, having gone to Mount Kailāsa, he pleased Śaṅkara. Undertaking severe austerities, and after some time had passed in due course, he won the Lord’s favor.”
लोगश उवाच
Steady, disciplined effort (tapas) undertaken with devotion and patience bears fruit in due time; divine favor is portrayed as responding to sincere perseverance rather than haste.
Lomasha narrates that Bhagiratha travels to Mount Kailāsa and performs intense austerities; after some time passes, Śiva (Śaṅkara) becomes pleased with him.
