ततः प्रीतो महाराज कपिलों5शुमतो5भवत् | उवाच चैन धर्मात्मा वरदो5स्मीति भारत,भरतवंशी महाराज! इससे धर्मात्मा कपिलजी अंशुमानपर प्रसन्न हो गये और बोले -- मैं तुम्हें वर देनेको उद्यत हूँ
tataḥ prīto mahārāja kapilo ’ṁśumato ’bhavat | uvāca cainaṁ dharmātmā varado ’smīti bhārata ||
Then the sage Kapila, pleased, became gracious toward Aṁśumān. The righteous one addressed him: “O Bhārata, I am ready to grant you a boon.” The moment underscores that sincere approach and humility before a dharmic authority can elicit compassionate favor, and that boons are framed as moral gifts rather than mere rewards.
सगर उवाच
Dharma-bearing authority responds to sincere, respectful approach with grace; a boon is presented as a morally grounded gift, implying that power (to grant boons) is ideally exercised under dharma.
Kapila becomes pleased with Aṁśumān and tells him that he is prepared to grant a boon, marking a turning point where Aṁśumān’s quest can be fulfilled through Kapila’s favor.
