Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds the ethical role of ṛṣis in the epic: revered sages actively seek out those in distress (here, the Pāṇḍavas) and then approach kings to offer guidance. It signals that dharma is clarified through dialogue with the wise, not merely through power or emotion.

Vyāsa informs the king that the sage Maitreya is arriving. Maitreya has already sought out and met the Pāṇḍava brothers and is now coming to see Vyāsa and the king, setting up an impending encounter and counsel.
