Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)
सोअभिमन्युर्नुसिंहस्य फाल्गुनस्य सुतो5भवत् | स युदृध्वा क्षत्रधर्मेण यथा नानन््य: पुमान् क्वचित्
so 'bhimanyur nṛsiṁhasya phālgunasya suto 'bhavat | sa yuddhvā kṣatradharmeṇa yathā nānyaḥ pumān kvacit ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Abhimanyu was born as the son of Phālguna (Arjuna), a lion among men. Having fought in accordance with the kṣatriya code of duty, he proved himself unequalled by any man anywhere—an exemplar of warrior-dharma expressed through fearless, righteous combat.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse upholds kṣatriya-dharma: a warrior’s ethical ideal is to fight bravely and rightly, embodying duty and courage without shrinking from righteous battle.
Vaiśampāyana briefly characterizes Abhimanyu—identifying him as Arjuna’s son and praising his unmatched prowess and adherence to the warrior code in battle.
