Vidura’s Expanded Account of the Path

Therefore, a wise person should make earnest effort to bring about release from this bondage. One must not be negligent in this matter, O King; for if ignored, this worldly entanglement grows vast, branching out into a hundred offshoots.
Vidura teaches that freedom from worldly bondage requires deliberate, sustained effort; negligence allows saṃsāra to proliferate into many new attachments and complications.
In the Strī Parva context of grief and moral reckoning after the war, Vidura addresses the king with counsel, urging him not to lapse into complacency but to strive for inner withdrawal and release from worldly entanglement.
