तया ते समनुज्ञाता मातरं वीरमातरम्
tayā te samanujñātā mātaraṃ vīramātaram
With her consent, they were duly granted leave to approach the mother—the mother of a hero—signaling a respectful, dharma-aligned transition from one authority’s permission to the next in the midst of grief and aftermath.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even amid the devastation of war, proper conduct is maintained through seeking and granting permission, honoring elders, and approaching those in grief with due respect—an expression of dharma in social relations.
A group is given formal leave by a woman (contextually, a senior or authoritative figure), and with that permission they proceed to the mother described as a ‘hero’s mother,’ indicating a respectful visit or approach in the mourning setting of the Strī Parva.
