तस्याद्य न प्रपश्यामि प्रतियोद्धारमाहवे । त्वामृते पुरुषव्यात्र शार्ट्लसमविक्रमम्,इति सत्य ब्रवीम्येष दुर्योधन न संशय: । “मैं रणभूमिमें कुन्तीके सभी पुत्रों और सामने आये हुए सोमकोंपर भी विजय प्राप्त कर लूँगा। इसमें भी संदेह नहीं कि मैं तुम्हारा सेनापति होऊँगा और ऐसे व्यूहका निर्माण करूँगा, जिसे शत्रु लाँघ नहीं सकेंगे। दुर्योधन! यह मैं तुमसे सच्ची बात कहता हूँ। इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है” 'पुरुषसिंह! आपका पराक्रम सिंहके समान है। आज आपके सिवा युद्धस्थलमें दूसरेको ऐसा नहीं देखता, जो शल्यके सम्मुख होकर युद्ध कर सके
tasyādya na prapaśyāmi pratiyoddhāram āhave | tvām ṛte puruṣavyāghra śārḍūlasamavikramam iti satyaṁ bravīmy eṣa duryodhana na saṁśayaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: “Today, in this battle, I see no one who can truly stand as an opposing champion against him—except you, O tiger among men, whose prowess is like that of a great beast of prey. Duryodhana, I speak this as the truth; of this there is no doubt.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how war discourse often elevates a leader through praise and certainty (“no doubt”), shaping morale and decision-making. Ethically, it shows the power—and risk—of confident counsel: it can steady a ruler, yet it may also reinforce overconfidence amid a destructive conflict.
Sañjaya addresses Duryodhana, asserting that on that day he sees no one fit to oppose the formidable warrior in front of them—except Duryodhana himself—thereby positioning Duryodhana as the only adequate counter-champion and strengthening his resolve.
