The Fall of Duryodhana and the Contest of Restraint

As the mighty one was struck, blood began to stream from his body. And from the heavy, crushing force of that blow, he fell into a swoon, as though overcome by faintness—showing how, in the violence of war, even the strongest are made vulnerable by the weight of injury and the consequences of combat.
The verse underscores the reality that physical power is not absolute: in war, the force of violence produces immediate bodily consequences, reminding the listener of human fragility and the grave cost of combat.
A powerful warrior (identified in the accompanying gloss as Bhīma) is struck so heavily that blood streams from his body, and the severity of the impact causes him to lapse into a faint-like swoon.
