Śalya–Bhīma Gadā-saṃnipāta and Śalya’s Bāṇa-jāla against Yudhiṣṭhira

Book 9, Chapter 11

pramukhe sahadevasya jaghānāśvān sa madrarāṭ

Sañjaya said: In the very forefront of the battle, the king of Madra struck down Sahadeva’s horses—an act aimed not merely at killing, but at crippling a warrior’s mobility and command, revealing the ruthless tactical ethic of Kurukṣetra where disabling an opponent’s chariot could decide life and death in an instant.
