Sauptika Parva, Adhyaya 8 — Dhṛṣṭadyumna-vadha and the Camp’s Nocturnal Rout

यथाप्रतिज्ञं तत्‌ कर्म कृत्वा द्रौणायनि: प्रभो

yathāpratijñaṃ tat karma kṛtvā drauṇāyaniḥ prabho

Sañjaya said: O lord, having carried out that deed exactly as he had vowed, the son of Droṇa fulfilled his grim resolve—an act that underscores how a pledged intention, when yoked to wrath in war, can drive one to irrevocable wrongdoing.
