तथैव तावन्मेधावी विनयं यो न शिक्षते । न च किंचन जानाति सो<पि धर्मार्थनिश्चयम्‌,इसी प्रकार मेधावी होनेपर भी जो मनुष्य विनय नहीं सीखता, वह भी धर्म और अर्थके निर्णयको थोड़ा भी नहीं समझ पाता है

tathaiva tāvan medhāvī vinayaṃ yo na śikṣate | na ca kiṃcana jānāti so 'pi dharmārthaniscayam ||

Likewise, even if a man is intelligent, if he does not learn humility and discipline, he understands nothing at all of how to judge what is righteous (dharma) and what is beneficial (artha).
