Kṛtavarmā’s Stand against the Pāṇḍavas

Sañjaya said: As the Bharata warriors, eager to fight, advanced slowly in their martial array, and when the fierce, ominous moment had arrived, Savyasācī (Arjuna) came into view on the battlefield—appearing amid the rising tumult that signals the ethical gravity of war: disciplined movement, readiness for violence, and the foreboding of imminent slaughter.

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the moral weight of war: even when warriors are eager and disciplined, the arrival of a 'raudra muhūrta' frames battle as a grave, ominous turning-point where skill (Arjuna) must operate within the larger demands of kṣatriya-dharma and the consequences of violence.

As the Kuru/Bharata fighters, ready for combat, advance slowly in formation, the fierce moment for engagement arrives; at that juncture Arjuna—called Savyasācī—becomes visible on the battlefield, signaling the imminent clash.
