Droṇa Interdicts Sātyaki; Sātyaki’s Breakthrough and Duel with Kṛtavarmā (द्रोण-निवारणम्, सात्यकि-प्रवेशः, कृतवर्म-युद्धम्)
युद्धकाले पुन: प्राप्ते तदैव भवता यदि । निवर्तिता: स्यु: संरब्धा न त्वां व्यसनमाव्रजेत्
yuddhakāle punaḥ prāpte tadaiva bhavatā yadi | nivartitāḥ syuḥ saṃrabdhā na tvāṃ vyasanam āvrajet ||
Sañjaya said: “When the time of battle came again, if at that very moment you had restrained those enraged men and turned them back, then calamity would not have overtaken you.”
संजय उवाच
Timely restraint of anger-driven action is presented as a leader’s ethical duty; failure to check the enraged at the decisive moment leads to avoidable calamity.
Sañjaya reflects on a critical wartime juncture, stating that if the addressed person had stopped the furious fighters when battle resumed, the ensuing misfortune would not have befallen him.
