Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Droṇa Parva, in the section called the Pratijñā Parva, the eighty-fifth chapter—centered on the words of Śrī Kṛṣṇa—comes to an end. (This is the chapter-colophon marking the completion of the adhyāya.)
वायुदेव उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it signals the completion of a chapter framed around Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s words within the Pratijñā (vow) episode. Its ethical emphasis is indirect—highlighting the narrative importance of vows and counsel in the conduct of war.
The text is marking closure: it announces that the eighty-fifth chapter of the Droṇa Parva—classified under the Pratijñā Parva and themed as ‘Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s discourse’—has concluded.
