यदि तद् विदितं तेडद्य श्वो हन्तासि जयद्रथम् | अथनज्ञातं प्रपद्यस्व मनसा वृषभध्वजम्,“यदि वह अस्त्र आज तुम्हें विदित हो तो तुम अवश्य कल जयद्रथको मार सकते हो और यदि तुम्हें उसका ज्ञान न हो तो मन-ही-मन भगवान् वृषभध्वज (शिव)-की शरण लो। धनंजय! तुम मनमें उन महादेवजीका ध्यान करते हुए चुपचाप बैठ जाओ। तब उनके दया- प्रसादसे तुम उनके भक्त होनेके कारण उस महान् अस्त्रको प्राप्त कर लोगे”
sañjaya uvāca | yadi tad viditaṃ te 'dya śvo hantāsi jayadratham | atha na jñātaṃ prapadyasva manasā vṛṣabhadhvajam ||
Sañjaya said: “If that (weapon/means) is known to you today, then tomorrow you will indeed be able to slay Jayadratha. But if you do not know it, then take refuge in your mind in Vṛṣabhadhvaja (Śiva). Sit silently, meditating upon Mahādeva; by his compassionate grace, since you are his devotee, you will obtain that mighty weapon.”
