Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical and emotional cost of war: even righteous or blameless persons become entangled in grief, separation, and a sense of helpless fate. It underscores impermanence and the human longing for reunion, set against the inevitability of death.

A mother-like voice (as reported by Sanjaya) laments that her eyes have not been satisfied by seeing her son and declares that, due to misfortune, she will surely die today and go to Yama’s realm—an expression of despair amid the calamities of the battle.
