Abhimanyu’s Fall and the Battlefield Aftermath
māgadhasya tathā putraṃ hatvā ṣaḍbhir ajidvāgaiḥ | sāśvaṃ sasūtaṃ taruṇam aśvaketuṃ apātayat ||
Sañjaya said: In the same manner, having struck down the son of the king of Magadha with six unfailing arrows, he felled the young Aśvaketu from his chariot—together with his horses and charioteer. The verse underscores the relentless momentum of battlefield prowess, where youthful valor is abruptly extinguished and the ethics of war are framed through skill, speed, and decisive force rather than personal malice.
