Encirclement and counter-strikes of Abhimanyu

Sañjaya said: O King, Lakṣmaṇa—your grandson, pleasing to behold—was a hard-to-overcome hero. Standing near his father with bow in hand, reared in the height of comfort, he seemed like the son of the Lord of Wealth (Kubera). Then, in the press of battle, Arjuna’s son charged at Lakṣmaṇa—like a rut-maddened elephant rushing upon another mighty elephant. The passage underscores how privilege and princely nurture do not shield one from the impartial ordeal of war, where valor is tested through direct confrontation.
