Sañjaya said: Eager to achieve their aim, the warriors—having their forces arrayed in battle formation and ready to strike—rushed forward. In context, this surge reflects the Pandava side’s urgent, duty-driven attempt to break into the enemy’s formation along the path already opened, in order to protect Abhimanyu, even at grave risk.

The verse highlights dharma as urgent, collective responsibility: when a comrade is endangered, righteous warriors do not remain passive; they organize, commit, and act decisively—even when the situation is perilous.
Sañjaya reports that the warriors, with their troops arranged in formation and intent on striking, surge forward together—contextually, the Pandava allies press ahead to enter the enemy’s formation by the route already made, aiming to reach and protect Abhimanyu.
