Vyāsa said: Those brahmins of righteous conduct—whose sins have been exhausted and whose minds are free from grief—behold Him. That praiseworthy Lord, Dharma Himself, the One whose form is the whole universe, manifested there through the power of austerity and devotion; and the ascetic Nārāyaṇa beheld that Viśvarūpa. Seeing Him, Vāsudeva’s inner self blossomed with joy—together with his speech, mind, intellect, and body—and he experienced profound delight.

Divine vision is portrayed as the fruit of inner purification: when sin is exhausted and grief is stilled, and when austerity is joined with devotion, the Lord—praised as Dharma itself and as the universal form—becomes directly knowable. The ethical emphasis is that right conduct, self-discipline, and bhakti transform the whole person.
Vyāsa describes a theophany: the Lord in universal form manifests through the power of tapas and bhakti, and the ascetic Nārāyaṇa beholds Him. Upon seeing this manifestation, Vāsudeva experiences complete, embodied joy—his speech, mind, intellect, body, and inner self all become suffused with exhilaration.
