सो5तिविद्धों बलवता द्रोणपुत्रेण सारथि:
so 'tividdho balavatā droṇaputreṇa sārathiḥ
Sañjaya said: The charioteer, struck through with great force by Droṇa’s son, was grievously wounded—an image of how, in war, even those who merely guide and serve are not spared by the violence unleashed by the mighty.

The verse underscores the indiscriminate reach of battlefield violence: even a sārathi, whose role is service and guidance rather than direct combat, becomes a victim when power is wielded without restraint. It invites reflection on the ethical cost of war and the vulnerability of those supporting the warriors.
Sañjaya reports that a charioteer has been powerfully pierced/wounded by Droṇa’s son (Aśvatthāman). The line functions as a vivid battlefield detail within Droṇa Parva’s ongoing combat narration.
