Sañjaya said: The twin brothers, those best of men, followed behind, guarding him as he advanced straight toward Droṇa—blazing like fire. The scene underscores the warrior’s duty of protection and loyal support in battle, even as the combat moves toward a formidable teacher and elder.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in practice: steadfast protection of an ally and disciplined advance toward a powerful opponent. It also reflects the ethical tension of war where duty and loyalty operate even against revered elders like Droṇa.

Dṛṣṭadyumna advances directly toward Droṇa, described as blazing like fire. Behind him, the twin brothers Nakula and Sahadeva follow closely, guarding his rear as protective support in the battle formation.
