Sanjaya said: Seeing that extraordinary deed of the Haiḍimba (Ghaṭotkaca) on the battlefield, Droṇa, Drauṇi (Aśvatthāmā), Kṛpa and the others, shaken with alarm, cried out again and again, “Now this (army of ours) will not survive.”

The verse highlights how quickly confidence collapses when confronted with overwhelming force: in war and in life, power and security are impermanent, and fear spreads when leaders themselves lose composure.
After witnessing Ghaṭotkaca’s extraordinary feats on the battlefield, senior Kaurava commanders—Droṇa, Aśvatthāmā, Kṛpa and others—become alarmed and shout that their army is doomed.
