Educational Q&A

The verse frames humiliation and sexual violation as grave adharma, emphasizing that such acts are ethically indefensible and intensify culpability beyond ordinary hostility in conflict.

Sañjaya reports a denunciation in which the speaker cites past offenses: the perpetrator not only insulted the Rākṣasas (including the speaker) but is also accused of violating the Rākṣasa maiden Hiḍimbā, presented as an extreme crime.
