Sañjaya said: O King, they surrounded Sātyaki on every side with well-appointed chariots adorned with gold and silver, and with cavalry and elephants. The scene underscores the war’s relentless pressure, where concentrated force is used to isolate a single warrior amid the larger struggle of duty and survival.

The verse highlights how, in war, power is often applied through coordinated encirclement and overwhelming force; ethically, it points to the harsh reality that a warrior must maintain steadiness and resolve when isolated, continuing to act according to kṣatriya-dharma amid danger.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that opposing forces have closed in around Sātyaki from all directions using richly equipped chariots along with cavalry and elephants, indicating a tactical attempt to trap and neutralize him.
