Pacification of the Nārāyaṇāstra and Drauni’s Renewed Assault

Sañjaya said: Then, with a vast army assembled, the battle was set in motion. Likewise, your sons, arriving with their great host, placed the best of twice-born warriors, Kṛpācārya, in their midst; and thereafter a dreadful combat arose between the two forces—an escalation that underscores how reliance on eminent elders and sheer numbers still culminates in the harsh moral trial of war.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical tension of war: even when guided by revered elders and supported by vast forces, conflict still unfolds into grievous violence, testing dharma and responsibility in leadership.

Sañjaya reports that a fierce battle begins as large armies converge; the Kauravas position Kṛpācārya prominently among them, and the two sides engage in intense combat.
