Adhyāya 16: Saṃśaptaka-vrata and the Diversion of Arjuna

tam āvidhyac chita-bāṇaiḥ kaḍakaparṇair yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | tasya droṇo dhanuś chittvā taṃ drutaṃ samupādravat ||

Sañjaya said: Yudhiṣṭhira pierced Droṇācārya with sharp arrows, feathered like the wings of a vulture. Droṇa then cut down Yudhiṣṭhira’s bow and swiftly rushed upon him. The episode underscores the grim ethics of battle: even revered teachers and righteous kings are compelled to meet with force, skill, and resolve when dharma is contested on the battlefield.
