Ghaṭotkaca Slays Alāyudha (Night Battle and Māyā Countermeasures) / घटोत्कचेन अलायुधवधः

O son of Gāndhārī, this great consequence has now come to fruition from that unrighteous act of yours. If that sin had not borne its result here, you would have had to suffer an even harsher punishment for it in the world beyond.
संजय उवाच
Adharma inevitably yields consequences: if the result is not experienced in this life, it follows the doer into the afterlife; moral accountability cannot be escaped.
Sañjaya addresses Duryodhana (as 'son of Gāndhārī'), interpreting the destruction of his side in the war as the ripened fruit of his earlier unrighteous conduct, warning that otherwise a heavier punishment would await beyond death.
