Alāyudha’s Resolve to Confront Bhīma
ity evaṁ dharmarājena harir ukto mahāyaśāḥ | anurūpam idaṁ vākyaṁ pratyuvāca janārdanaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Thus addressed by Dharmarāja, the illustrious Hari—Janārdana—replied with words fitting to Yudhiṣṭhira’s statement, responding in a manner aligned with dharma and the gravity of the moment.

The verse highlights the ideal of measured, context-appropriate counsel: when a righteous king speaks from a dharmic concern, the divine guide responds in a manner that matches the ethical weight and intent of the question—suggesting that right action in crisis depends on discerning, fitting speech and guidance.
Sañjaya reports that after Yudhiṣṭhira (Dharmarāja) has spoken to Kṛṣṇa (Hari/Janārdana), Kṛṣṇa answers him—introducing the forthcoming counsel or instruction that follows in the next verses.
