आश्चर्यभूतं लोके5स्मिन् समुद्रस्येव शोषणम्,“विप्रवर! सात्यकि, भीमसेन तथा अर्जुनके द्वारा आपकी पराजय समुद्रको सुखा देनेके समान इस संसारमें एक आश्चर्यभरी घटना है। लोग बड़े जोरसे इस बातकी चर्चा कर रहे हैं
sañjaya uvāca | āścaryabhūtaṃ loke 'smin samudrasyeva śoṣaṇam | vipravara! sātyaki-bhīmasena-tathārjunaiḥ tava parājayaḥ samudraṃ śoṣayitum iva loke 'smin mahad āścaryam | lokāḥ etad viṣayaṃ mahāvegena pravadanti |
Sanjaya said: “O best of brahmins, your defeat at the hands of Sātyaki, Bhīmasena, and Arjuna is a wonder in this world—like the drying up of the ocean. People are speaking of it everywhere with great intensity.”
