Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma under crisis: when one’s side is being depleted, a warrior may choose direct personal confrontation with the opposing commander. It underscores resolve and responsibility in battle, even amid overwhelming attrition.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that as the Pāṇḍava forces are being steadily reduced, Sahadeva—identified here as Jarāsandha’s son—charges directly at Droṇācārya, intensifying the clash by targeting the chief strategist and commander.
