एकस्य च बहूनां च संनिपातों महाहवे
ekasya ca bahūnāṃ ca sannipāto mahāhave
Sañjaya said: In that great battle, there was a fierce convergence—one warrior meeting many, and many pressing upon one—showing how war compresses countless lives into a single, perilous clash.
संजय उवाच
The line highlights the moral and human pressure of war: individuals are forced into overwhelming confrontations where the many can crush the one, and the one may still resist the many—revealing both courage and the tragic compression of lives into violent encounters.
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, describes the intensity of the fighting in Droṇa Parva: combatants are closing in at close quarters, with single warriors facing groups and groups surrounding single fighters in the great battle.
