Sanjaya said: “O subduer of foes, fix your mind now on the duty demanded by the moment. Decide whether you should hold your ground here or move elsewhere—for Sātyaki has already gone far away.”

In a crisis, dharma often appears as timely, situation-specific duty: one must steady the mind, assess the moment, and choose the action—staying or moving—that best serves responsibility rather than hesitation.
Sanjaya reports urgent counsel to a warrior addressed as ‘ariṃdama’: the situation has shifted because Sātyaki has gone far away, so an immediate decision is needed about whether to hold position or relocate on the battlefield.
