Śaineya–Bhūriśravas: Genealogy, Svayaṃvara Contest, and the Maheśvara Boon

tataḥ śaktiṃ gṛhītvā tu rukmadaṇḍām ayasmayīm | tarasā preṣayāmāsa mādhavasya rathaṃ prati ||

Sañjaya said: Then, taking up a spear made of iron and fitted with a golden shaft, he hurled it with great force toward Mādhava’s chariot. The verse highlights the escalating ferocity of the battle, where skill and intent are directed toward disabling the opponent’s vehicle—an act that, in the epic’s ethical landscape, intensifies the peril for the warrior and tests resolve amid adharma-leaning tactics of annihilation.
