Sañjaya said: “It is you alone whom they now wish to fight. Behold the reversal wrought by Time: those who once served you with steadfast loyalty have today turned to face you in battle.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kāla (Time) as a force that overturns human relationships and political alignments: loyalty can transform into hostility under changing circumstances, urging humility and clear ethical discernment amid war.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that warriors who once served him are now prepared to fight against him (i.e., against his side), emphasizing the dramatic shift in fortunes and alliances during the Kurukṣetra war.
