Adhyāya 113: Karṇa–Bhīma Śaravarṣa and the Battlefield Aftermath (कर्णभीमशरवर्षः)
पार्षतश्न ससोदर्य: पार्थिवाश्व महाबला: । द्रौपदेयाश्व मां तात रक्षिष्यन्ति न संशय:,तात! भाइयोंसहित धृष्टद्युम्न, महाबली भूपालगण तथा द्रौपदीके पाँचों पुत्र मेरी रक्षा कर लेंगे; इसमें संशय नहीं है
pārṣataś ca saso(d)aryaḥ pārthivāś ca mahābalāḥ | draupadeyāś ca māṃ tāta rakṣiṣyanti na saṃśayaḥ ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O dear one, Dhṛṣṭadyumna of the Pārṣata line, together with his brothers, the mighty kings, and the five sons of Draupadī will surely protect me. Of this there is no doubt.”
युधिछिर उवाच
In the midst of war, a righteous leader relies not on solitary pride but on duly formed alliances and entrusted guardianship. The verse highlights the kṣatriya ethic of protection—security is a shared responsibility among comrades bound by duty and loyalty.
Yudhiṣṭhira expresses firm confidence that Dhṛṣṭadyumna with his brothers, the allied kings, and Draupadī’s five sons will guard him. The statement reassures his side about the protective formation around the king, whose safety is crucial for the army’s morale and command.
