Adhyāya 113: Karṇa–Bhīma Śaravarṣa and the Battlefield Aftermath (कर्णभीमशरवर्षः)
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्ाभारत द्रोणपर्वके अन्तर्गत जयद्रथवधपर्वमें युधिष्िरवाक्यविषयक एक सौ दसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ
iti prakāraṁ śrīmahābhārate droṇaparvake antargataṁ jayadrathavadhaparvaṇi yudhiṣṭhiravākyaviṣayaka ekaśata-daśamo ’dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ
Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Droṇa Parva, the one-hundred-and-tenth chapter—centered on Yudhiṣṭhira’s words—concludes in the Jayadratha-slaying section. The colophon marks a formal close to this unit of narration, situating Yudhiṣṭhira’s speech within the ethical pressures of war and the larger arc leading to Jayadratha’s death.
युधिष्ठिर उवाच
This is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches how the epic frames ethical discourse within structured narrative units—here, Yudhiṣṭhira’s words are formally set inside the war’s escalating moral crisis culminating in Jayadratha’s death.
The text signals the completion of a chapter in the Droṇa Parva, specifically within the Jayadratha-slaying section, identifying that the chapter’s content focused on Yudhiṣṭhira’s speech and marking a transition to the next narrative segment.
