Yudhiṣṭhira said: “For us, there is always one—Kṛṣṇa—who grants fearlessness to his friends. In battle he stands ready to give up even his life; and the second such one is you, O Sātyaki—O Sātyaki!”
युधिष्ठिर उवाच
True friendship in dharma is measured by the capacity to remove fear from allies and to accept personal risk—even life itself—for their protection; Yudhiṣṭhira holds up Kṛṣṇa and Sātyaki as exemplars of such selfless guardianship.
In the Drona Parva’s intense battle context, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Sātyaki, declaring that among their supporters Kṛṣṇa is the foremost giver of fearlessness and ever-ready to sacrifice himself in war, and that Sātyaki is the second who matches this steadfast commitment.
