प्रहसंस्तु नरव्याप्र: श्वेताश्वः कृष्णसारथि:
prahasaṁs tu naravyāghraḥ śvetāśvaḥ kṛṣṇasārathiḥ
Sañjaya said: Smiling (or laughing), that tiger among men—Arjuna, the rider of the white horses with Kṛṣṇa as his charioteer—(advanced in the battle). The line underscores Arjuna’s composed confidence and moral steadiness amid the violence of war, grounded in the guidance of Kṛṣṇa.
संजय उवाच
Even in a righteous but terrible conflict, the ideal warrior maintains inner steadiness and acts with clarity; Arjuna’s calm smile signifies disciplined courage supported by wise guidance (Kṛṣṇa as sārathi).
Sañjaya describes Arjuna—distinguished by his white-horsed chariot and Kṛṣṇa as charioteer—moving forward in battle with confident composure.
